SEPTEMBER 3 F-F-F-FUN

6 Things I Learned About My Camera Today

1.  Reading through the instruction manual, I was able to solve the viewfinder problem, and it wasn't my glasses at all!  There's a tiny dial right beside the viewfinder that brings it into focus, like a pair of binoculars.

2.  I'm getting a little faster at the steps to go through to erase images on the camera, as once they're in my computer files I don't want to keep them.  There aren't many steps so I need to write them down so I can get the order fixed and not have to do any (non-intuitive) hunting around.

3.  I learned that one of the icons on the LCD screen tells me if the camera is horizontal or vertical.  Wonder why I wouldn't already know that, since it's in my hands?  But it's still an icon identified!

4.  The shutter button is used to focus.  There's a half-way position, which you use to focus, then you finish pressing and the picture is taken.  If you don't do this, the picture may not be in focus. This is no quick-shoot proposition.  Some things are gone in that amount of time-I'm thinking about birds and butterflies and such.  Also a lot of information comes up on the LCD screen when you do this, so I need to spend more time there.  Another day, though, because now the battery is in the charger!

5.  This I already knew:  either turn the camera off between shots or put the cap on the lens.  If you walk around with the camera on and the lens uncovered, the lens is always hunting for a focus.  This drains the battery toot-suite. You can guess how I learned this.

6.  Changing the f-stop is still a mystery, but I've found the page for it in the instructions and a YouTube tutorial specific to it.  There's hope!
