READING ON THE DECK
The aspen are fully leafed out, and that makes the deck a summer reading paradise. Yeah, I've been there already and will be there for the duration.
TAI CHI ON THE DECK
Being able to practice Tai Chi outside on the deck is fully motivating.
GAZEBO OPTION
The gazebo furniture is uncovered and the pond waterfall is running, so another micro-paradise is available for reading and eating.
BIKING
Last year I YouTube learned how to clean & oil the bike chain/gears myself. I did that yesterday and took my first ride today. I do have an intention to bike weekly, but unlike other activities, I don't organize biking with any named series. In the "olden days", I would ride on my favorite road, FS700. However, what with logging trucks, lack of maintenance, weather and time, the condition of the road, especially at the entry point, is becoming difficult even for driving and impossible for an unskilled rider like me. Thus, I've chosen to restrict my riding to the Old Munds Highway, which is 3 miles in one direction. Out and back 6 miles, then any additional miles I care to add in lap form. Usually I stop at 10.
BUT because it's difficult not to challenge myself in some way, I am toying with the idea of working on some specific bicycling skills. More than a decade ago I "printed the internet" and kept a packet of 7 bicycling skills for unskilled riders. They are: Looking Back and Scanning, Rock Dodge, Quick Turn, Slalom/Zig Zag, Tight Turn, Figure 8, Balancing at Slow Speed. I can't do a single one of them. Some I could practice as I ride, others would require some set up. I could choose any one of them and practice. Hmmm. Do I feel a Series coming on? We'll see.
So there it is. Thinking, planning, talking and writing it about it; all done. What's left:
LIVE IT!
Live the life you've dreamed.
