The Activities Report
Friends
James and Janet came to Flagstaff from their home in Phoenix and since
the weather for most of February was unseasonably warm, invited us on a
hike with their friend Deb. We enjoyed several hours of shirt-sleeve
hiking.

Ron and I both attended the Master's Recital of my violin teacher, Emily.
Her instrument is cello, and this painting is a close match to her dark hair and beautiful formal red gown. Her playing was exceptional and to our ears, flawless. What a treat it is to hear real people playing real music. Congratulations to Emily, M.Mus. (Master of Music).
Ron and I celebrated Valentine's Day
on the 15th with a lunch in a very nice restaurant Ron discovered in Williams, the Red Raven
The Fussin' and Cussin' Report
random (ran.dom): made, done, or chosen at random
If the process of choosing names for prospective jurors is truly random, as is claimed, why is it I have been chosen as a prospective juror numerous times over the years, and further chosen to report for jury selection numerous of those time??? Though mathematically random events can cluster, I became a disbeliever when I was recently chosen to report for jury selection TWO WEEKS IN A ROW! I know there are those who enjoy the opportunity to be selected for a jury. I'm not one of them. The numerous times I've gotten to the actual jury selection process, I've not been chosen because of my extensive law enforcement background. Therefore, even though it's my civic duty, I'd rather spend my time doing something I know will have a positive result. When I got the first summons to report to the court, I edged down the low road with a certain amount of....fussin' and cussin'. When the second summons came in the mail, I committed to the low road and threw a cussin' and fussin' FIT.
"I DON'T WANNA!" was the loud and repetitive gist of it. Friends and family became annoyed, I'm sure. Ironically, when I called the night before to see if the trial I was assigned to was as scheduled or cancelled....both of them were cancelled. That made me very happy, but less than proud of my behavior. Oh, well. I'm human.
The Movie Report
Legends From The Sky was the production of an NAU graduate, and used mostly talent from the local Navajo Reservation. We enjoyed this B movie for those aspects.
Whiplash was a powerful and difficult-to-watch story of a musician/teacher gone over the edge, believing he might produce a genius if only he pushed hard enough.

McFarland USA was a really good feel-good movie of the loser sports team makes good genre.
For Your Amusement
Did you hear about the snail that got beat up by two
turtles?
At the police station
they asked him, “Did you get a good look at the turtles that did this?" He said,
“No, it all happened so fast.”
