2021 IS HERE!
We did it. Some of us with minimal disruption; too many paying the ultimate price. In my mind, there's a SUPER heaven for Covid-19 victims and they deserve it.
Last year, as in years past, I made elaborate plans for the New Year. Some were laid waste by Covid-19. Surprisingly, others were fulfilled by Covid-19 in ways I didn't anticipate.
This year, I'm going minimalist:
Mentally, I'm prepared for Covid-19 to completely dominate 2021. I'm planning to continue to mask, wash my hands, social distance, and mostly stay-at-home all year. Oh, and GET VACCINATED when my turn comes around.
As a country, we'll turn a corner on January 20. Turning that corner, we'll face Mt. Everest; the longest, hardest climb imaginable. As it has been all along, it's almost entirely out of my hands. The above personal behaviors, as well as continuing our robust monthly donation schedule to local agencies assisting the hungry, homeless, workless, and rentless, will be what I can do.
Otherwise, I'm going to let things unfold. I have the basic structure of Winter and Summer seasonal activities. I'll continue to make monthly short-term plans. I'll stay as flexible and resilient as I can. I'll continue to accept that there's more behind me than in front of me, and make the most of it.
"What a wonderful thought it is
that some of the best days of our
lives haven't happened yet."
