GOODBYE APRIL!
(Belated, I know)
A session of WILLY-NILLY has caused this delayed April post. What happened belongs to May so that's where I'll elaborate. In the meantime....
April opened and closed with snow.
April 2. Our yard from the upstairs deck.
April 5 our Tai Chi club had an Open House and Intensive session.
Like all clubs, ours has a constant need to recruit new members to keep itself going. The Open House drew a handful of interested people who were invited and joined in the first 17 moves, which are considered a demonstration set. A potluck for members followed, then an afternoon of work on particular moves or parts of moves. No guest instructors this time, but our local instructors are well qualified.
April 12-17 was our Washington D.C. trip, described in an earlier blog.
The Washington Monument re-opened this past Monday after being closed for repair and renovation after the earthquake in August 2011. Gosh, we'll have to go back and take our turn going up!
April 17th and 25th marked the third anniversary of our parents' death.
Scott takes flowers to the cemetery for many occasions, and called to ask if the rest of us sibs wanted him to take some out for us. After some contemplation, I found that I need to move away from marking their death each year. Instead, I'm choosing to focus on what they were during their life, which was my parents. For now, my acknowledgements will be on Mother's and Father's day. Other times I might choose will be during in-person visits to Nebraska. I'll see how I feel over time.
April 26: Ironically, we received the most snow of the calendar year, 4-5".
Ron and I took advantage of the snowy day to go to the movie theater, where we saw the delightful and quirky Grand Budapest Hotel.
April 30 marked the end of my winter/swimming season, and the day I enjoyed the challenge of Alice's One-Woman Sprint Triathlon, also described in an earlier blog.
A Farewell
Good-bye!—no, do not grieve that it is over,
The perfect hour;
That the winged joy, sweet honey-loving rover,
Flits from the flower.
Grieve not—it is the law. Love will be flying—
Yes, love and all.
Glad was the living—blessed be the dying.
Let the leaves fall.
