GOODBYE MARCH!
Another month has flown by! I hope you're enjoying this year. It's seeming to go by at breakneck speed. We're doing well!
We enjoyed a range of March weather.
Like the proverbial lion, we started the month with a decent amount of rain, followed by a few cloudy days with minor precipitation Drought conditions prevailed though, causing a discord between glorious, sunny days with plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities and underlying worry about the lack of moisture.
Ron watches the Oscars every year. This year since we'd seen many of the nominated movies, I watched as well. It was an entertaining evening.
Ron and I have both been enjoying two television programs that started in March. First, an updated version of Cosmos.
Broadcast in 1980 & famously hosted by Carl Sagan, the original Cosmos series was a groundbreaking and popular series. Here's a photo of the RECORD I still have of the theme music, which was very popular in its own right. I think I'll listen to it right now!
The new Cosmos is hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and contains plenty of basic information as well as discoveries that have occurred over the last 33 years, of which there are plenty. I'm not scientifically inclined, but like the original Cosmos, find it very interesting & accessible. Coincidentally, Ron has recently been delving deeply into many of the topics covered only briefly in this series, so he's enjoying it an entirely different level.

As always, I'm completely entranced. The women are stunning and get to dress up! The men are handsome and get to dress up! The dancing is beautiful, poignant, emotional, often very difficult, and always fun to watch. Another of Ron's favorite programs, The Voice, is broadcast at the same time..it's a conflict for him. He's choosing DWTS for now.
Did Lea and I hike this month? You bet! We chose the Jim Thompson trail in Sedona.

A separate posting will follow for the week I spent in Tucson for

Ron and I celebrated my birthday on Sunday the 30th. A lunch of ribs, sweet potato french fries, cole slaw and cornbread at

and the play "Boeing-Boeing" at Theatrikos.
made for an enjoyable day.
This month's reading:
Tim Winton is an Australian author I will surely read again.
Vaddey Ratner wrote movingly about the terrible Cambodian civil war in the 1970's.
Carl Hiaasen is a favorite author of hysterically funny light-weight adult fiction. His juvenile fiction book "Hoot" was on my Capricious list, so I checked out both "Hoot" and "Chomp" at the library. They are similar in plot to his adult fiction and equally entertaining.
Spencer Quinn writes a series of Chet & Bernie mysteries in which the stories are told from the point of view of Chet, the 100+ pound dog partner of Bernie, his adored human. Also hysterically funny light-weight reading.
Frances Mayes became famous for "Under The Tuscan Sun". "A Year In The World" is her European travel journal. Fascinating.
