The Look Of An Ordinary Day

My needy relationship with structure has been a long one.  It hasn't changed any with retirement, though my hope is that over time I'll become comfortable with less.  Since that hasn't happened yet......

I've devised a general outline for an ordinary day.  I consider this a loose structure, and hold no expectations of lock-step adherence.

When I worked, every morning my feet hit the floor running.  No surprise, there was always a bit more to do than I had time to do, so no time to waste.  When I retired, I determined my mornings would be more leisurely.  I've worked myself to a relatively consistent 5:00 a.m. rise time, and spend the first couple of hours mulling over the coming day, journal writing, practicing yoga, and meditating.  It's delightful.
Breakfast, the daily light housecleaning, and a little TLC for the animal family.

Fitness time, which can include both indoor and outdoor activities.

Lunch, and a break that includes the daily crossword puzzle and some reading from the Information category.

The afternoon is for activities of choice.  Violin, fiddle and piano playing, e-mail, internet shopping, special house cleaning tasks, dog training, reading, baking, movies at the theater.

The dogs go out for their walk, then dinner and dishes.  Evening activities can include the occasional TV program, blogging, any music practice that didn't get done during the afternoon, phone calls.

 Bedtime.

Coming up:  what the days REALLY look like!
