BATCHIN' IT-DAY 2

RON'S OFF TO MINNESOTA!

A DAILY JOURNAL
SATURDAY-DAY 2

This is what time I got up this morning to get ready for the Climb for Cancer up Snowbowl Road:

This year I walked as a member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society.  Our meeting time at the starting place was 7:00, so I left the house at

to catch one of the shuttle buses that carries the 4000 or so participants from Flagstaff to Snowbowl Road.  I've done this event several times with individuals and groups.  It's a challenging 7 mile uphill walk, and a major fundraiser for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.  It's always enjoyable, and the personal effort is a tribute to everyone affected by cancer.

Here's our group:

This event is extremely well organized, and due to the length and uphill nature of the walk, there is always a shuttle bus available to take people to the top if they so desire.  Several in our group felt comfortable making the attempt with that backup, and I walked with Sue and Jane, who both ended up walking all the way to the top.  They were exceedingly well pleased, as they deserved to be.

I was back home by

I took the dogs out for a walk, enjoyed some more of the pizza I picked up yesterday, a heavenly shower, a bit of reading, a nap, an evening monsoon rain, and some more reading.  I'm thinking it was a perfect day.

I spoke with Ron.  He made it safely to Minneapolis.  Don was properly stunned to see him.  Among other activities, they spent some time at the Mall of America, which includes an indoor theme park:

Also worthy of note is that one year ago today was my last working day, which looked like this:

I'm planning a full update on my official retirement date, November 1.  In the meantime, I can confirm that retirement continues to be PURE PLEASURE!
